Horns, Holy and Howling

Three guesses as to where I am again? (And the first two Don't Count!)   Had a few ear-splitting adventures today as we drove Scooty willy-nilly into the traffic of downtown Lakhimpur.  Now, the next time you complain of traffic, Don't.  Imagine, if you can, cars, bicycles, rickshaws, cows, monkeys, people, donkeys, motorcycles all hurtling in your direction, horns blaring, with No apparent rhyme or reason. This gives a whole new perspective to not only Traffic, but the Meaning of Life!

At any rate, we are in hot pursuit, via various channels for our local Indian drivers license.  This is becoming a saga of Odyssian proportions. We are currently at Stage 2 ( or maybe 3 and 4), wherein various people scurry off in unknown directions and come back requesting More bits of paper, which we happily create, on the spot. Every day, we await further developments with great interest.  This is called a Learning Curve, or Crash, as the case may be.....

Meantime, we wandered off through an alley and discovered the Vegetable market.  Here the cows were very happily grazing on the offered wares and our arrival put an instant stop to all business in process. The goal here was Garlic, onions and salt.  Have aquired two out of three, this is listed as a Triumph.  My Hindi failed at describing the salt and  hand movements of waves and feeding myself just didn't cross the language barrier.... we shall foray forth again tomorrow

Signing off for now - Lakhimpur Report
