The Land of Oz

So, you are all over wondering, When is the next post- and Where Is she?..  And here we are again.  Not in the same place, or even as the same person.  For, do we not change, imperceptibly as we travel and experience this world?....

First, with a few tears and some minor cheers, have left the shores of India and washed up in Queensland, Australia.  Pin us on your map.  Cairns, yes, where the Great Barrier Reef rests.

Rain takes on a whole new meaning out here. Deluge would be a better description. It buckets down from the skies and flows over the houses.  Even the birds droop.  And such strange creatures that occupy the forests.  Nothing we have any knowledge or kinship with.  Indias' mad monkeys look tame in comparison to the wildlife out here. It all wants to eat or bite me!  Won't even go into the spiders just yet. Suffice to say, am sure, Out There, is one Bigger than me!

The road to Oz is well traveled. People from everywhere, literally washed up to the shores, and yet, the vast emptiness of it is tremendous and over-whelming.  It is a hard country, with little to soften it's outlines or crevices.  Beautiful, but hard.

And new!  A country barely past it's 100 year birthday.  Makes the US look positively ancient!  As all my EU friends laugh themselves silly.  :)
More on Ozzie English later.... signing off for the moment. Yes, I will be back, very soon.  Meantime, we are awaiting the blast of Cyclone Anthony hovering with intent over the Reef.  Time to hunker down and try to stay dry!
