The New "Exclusive Diversity"
Am scrolling my news feed and muttering a perpetual refrain of "WTF". From an occasional expletive, it is now a repetative observation of the on-going "cluster-fuck". That Peeps, is an actual military term. Unlike "Boo-ga- loo" (That's hypenated for the perpetual censors crawling around.) This lot identify as "libertarian citizen militia" and run around playing soldiers inciting civil war and over-throwing the government. (Refer to my article about what a "Militia" really is- getting tired of repeating myself. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/give-me-liberty-fallacy-opening-america-karin-von-krenner )
Let's talk. Not current, fear-based political correctness. That's just another BS term for preventing productive conversations. Revert to old fashioned basic respect and real free speech might help this mess become a productive debate vs phrase chanting. Yes, we hear you. Question is, can you hear anybody else?
Exclusive diversity. (As noted, am copywriting and claiming this phrase and idea. Mine dudes.) Regurgitate only if you understand what it means. Comes from years of experience and doing shit. If that makes me "old" deal with it, I earned my badges and scars.
Black Lives Matter. I really don't know anyone with a modicum of intelligence arguing the point. We agree. So let's move on. Starting to feel like an only record with a scratch. The song was great until it got stuck.
Where we are today is not because of a single event, person or, culture. Check out history Peeps. Research to ensure it's not a re-written, politically directed version. I know, we love all our 2 second thumb scroll. Who has time for the truth?! Yoda would say "Inconvenient Very". Let the Force be with you! Lets be rebels and defy Google analytics and targeting algorithms and dig out that nugget of truth.
Back on topic. Exclusive Diversity. Society is not a singular event or, culture. That is simplistic. Every country today has at its foundation, "core populations" . This is where the trauma begins. Then, it layers. In the US, we have two core traumatized populations. The Native Americans and the black Americans. TWO. Then we have add the layers. Chinese railroad workers, Irish immigrants fleeing famine, Japanese WWII internment camps, continental African immigrants, Muslims, LGBT, Hispanic workers.. the list is well, long.
But, all we are hearing in our current record, is a single refrain. Black Lives Matter. As noted, we are not debating this. What we are saying is, where are other voices? Are you talking Inclusive Diversity or an exclusive rejection of all other foundational trauma? Society is built on inter-connected layers. A woven tapesty of entwined events. If we want to really change it, we must recognize and address core trauma issues and work up. We must work together and talk about what we really want to change and achieve as an inclusive society. Achievable targets. Lay down stepping stones as we walk toward a new future.
Portland, you are making me sad. I loved you. Your beautiful parks, old gargoyled buildings, quirks. Tearing down George Washington! Really?! WTF... You can't rewrite history. Peeps, you are now officially censoring shit. Like it or not, he was the first President. In his day he was a rebel working for social change. A 1787 Founding Father who drafted Your Constitution and helped write those"rights" You now using to protest in the streets.
Every statue you tear down takes away a conversation. A chance to stop, reflect on history and turn to someone and talk about it. What you hate, what you like, what you feel. To say, maybe I will google this guy/gal and learn some more about this. To exclaim "damn, I didn't know that!" To learn and grow. Erasing history is CENSORSHIP and certainly not supporting free speech.
And, if your getting ready to marching again tonight- put that damn statue back with an apology.
