Not In Kansas Anymore..
Once upon a time....ah, the infinite magic of those words. We are transported back through time to the realm of "anything is possible" childhood. Had you going for a moment. No, this particular tale is that of a Traveller, not a sleeping princess. And, while there has indeed, been an odd Troll here in there, they eventually retreated to whatever bridge they crawled out from under.
Having passed hobbit-like from the land of temple gods, fallen upside down in Down Under and landed backwards into the Vaterland, our next adventure seems to be just around the proverbial corner again. As with all corners, even a mirror doesn't help to see clearly around it. Views, as the mirrors themselves tell us, are distorted. Snow White knew all about that. But, that being said, there is something tantalizing and tempting about a corner, that just pushes us forward to peer around it.
Not to change the subject, BUT, the sun came out today! For those of you, back home, in the "lands of far, far away" this is an Event here. I do believe I can count on one hand, the amount of sunshine we have had since our train slid first, into the Grey City. While there are elements of green, this is certainly Not, the Emerald City, and, Trolls abound- usually equipped with rubber stamps. Did I mention How much the Germans love their paperwork and red-tape? And when I say "paperwork", I mean the honest to goodness chop a tree down variety, not the modern technological alternative The German post still does very good business....
Recent events are sparking off some very serious concerns for" history repeat syndrome". Countries seem to be lining up with great big black crayons to draw borders despite the much vaunted border-less Europe. Personally, I enjoyed the days of drachmas, lires, francs and marks. It was so much more fun collecting all the different coins and passport stamps. Despite protests and protestations, the euro is boring, and along with austerity, grim.
All the fairy tales being spouted these days by our story-telling politicians are as fragile as Cinderella's glass slipper. Liable to shatter at the slightest impact and already cracked.
So, while I sit pondering the wisdom of to taking a bite out of the apple, or looking into a magic mirror, the wolf hugging and puffing at Europes' door gives an indication that it's time to polish up my ruby slippers one more time...Watch out for the flying monkeys!
Another tale in the making....not The End, just yet....
